Brompton Cleaners Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Brompton Cleaners has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in its business operations and supply chains. Brompton Cleaners is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our organisation or in our supply chains.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
Brompton Cleaners has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, debt bondage, servitude and child labour. We will not knowingly do business with any organisation, individual or third party that engages in, supports or is complicit in such practices. Our expectations are communicated internally to employees and externally to all suppliers and contractors, forming a core part of our ethical and procurement standards.
All colleagues, irrespective of seniority or role, are required to uphold this commitment. Any conduct inconsistent with our zero-tolerance approach will lead to appropriate disciplinary action, which may include termination of employment or contract.
Our Supply Chains and Supplier Standards
Our supply chains include providers of cleaning products, equipment, uniforms, facilities management services and labour-related services. We recognise that the risk of modern slavery may be higher in certain categories and geographic regions, and we are committed to identifying and managing those risks responsibly.
As part of our supplier onboarding and renewal processes, Brompton Cleaners requires suppliers to confirm that they comply with all applicable labour, employment and human rights laws. We expect suppliers to maintain transparent employment practices, including freely chosen employment, fair remuneration, lawful working hours and respect for freedom of movement.
Supplier Audits and Due Diligence
Brompton Cleaners has implemented a risk-based due diligence framework to assess current and prospective suppliers. This includes an assessment of sector, product type, geographic location and previous compliance history. Where higher risk is identified, additional checks and verification are undertaken.
We carry out periodic supplier audits, which may include reviewing employment records, checking right-to-work documentation, examining recruitment practices and, where appropriate, visiting sites to observe working conditions. Non-compliance or insufficient cooperation during an audit will result in corrective action plans, increased monitoring or, where necessary, suspension or termination of the business relationship.
Training, Awareness and Responsibility
Responsibility for overseeing our modern slavery controls sits with senior management, who ensure that adequate resources are allocated to implement, monitor and improve our approach. Managers involved in procurement, recruitment and supplier management receive targeted guidance on modern slavery risks and red flags.
We are working to embed awareness of modern slavery across the organisation through induction materials, internal communications and ongoing updates. Employees are reminded of their responsibility to remain vigilant and to report any concerns about potential exploitation or unethical behaviour in our business or supply chains.
Reporting Concerns and Speaking Up
Brompton Cleaners encourages all employees, workers, contractors and suppliers to raise concerns about modern slavery at the earliest possible stage. Concerns may relate to working conditions, recruitment fees, retention of identity documents, unexplained restrictions on movement or any other indicator of forced or exploitative labour.
We provide clear internal channels for raising such concerns, including direct escalation to line managers or senior management. Individuals who raise concerns in good faith will not suffer any retaliation or detrimental treatment as a result of speaking up. All reports will be taken seriously, treated sensitively and investigated promptly, with appropriate remedial action taken where necessary.
Monitoring, Review and Continuous Improvement
Brompton Cleaners is committed to continuous improvement in the prevention of modern slavery and human trafficking. Our modern slavery risks, controls and procedures are reviewed on at least an annual basis, or more frequently if required by changes in legislation, business operations or the external environment.
The annual review includes an assessment of the effectiveness of our supplier audits, the adequacy of training and awareness, the outcomes of any reported concerns, and opportunities to strengthen our policies, processes and contractual arrangements. Where gaps or weaknesses are identified, we implement clear action plans with defined responsibilities and timelines.
This Modern Slavery Statement has been approved by the leadership of Brompton Cleaners and will be updated each year to reflect our ongoing efforts to uphold human rights and eradicate modern slavery in all aspects of our business and supply chains.
